It’s time that our nation develops commonsense immigration reform.
Our immigration system is in need of an overhaul and to make any real reforms in this area we have to address these issues in a bipartisan manner. We must work together at all levels of government and law enforcement to direct resources to stop illegal immigration while still protecting the rights of legal immigrants.
We need a system that encourages guest workers to lend their skills to our nation but then make sure that after their stay ends that they return to their home country. We also must make sure that they pay their fair share of taxes while they work in the U.S. This will require that employers treat them fairly, complete all requirements as stated by immigration laws and have systems in place to ensure that taxes are paid.
We are known as the “Land of Opportunity” and for immigrants that enter our country legally, we can help them succeed as citizens of our great nation.
